Celebrity style expert Anya Sarre celebrated her son Sawyer’s second birthday with an Elmo-themed birthday bash at Kidville in Brentwood, Calif. on July 12. The “Elmofest” was complete with a life sized Elmo that surprised all 90 guests.

“I can’t believe my baby is two,” Anya tells Celebrity Baby Scoop. “He is such a little man who brightens everyone’s world. I asked him what kind of a party he wanted and he said, ‘Elmo’ without skipping a beat, so I ran with the theme.”

“Once I committed to it, I went all out and tried to do an Elmo party in a stylized way,” she adds. “This day is for him and his friends to experience everything Elmo.”

It all started with a handmade oversized Elmo invitation from Bloominkards that was customized to fit the red, aqua, and orange color palate. Anya and her team spent many late nights making their own Elmo lanterns, straws, buckets and napkin holders to give the party a hand crafted feel.

Guests included The Insider host Thea Andrews and her 3-year-old son Tucker, Fox Sports’ Petros Papadakis and his 2-year-old son Fletcher, and Books and Cookies owner Chudney Ross and her 2-year-old daughter Callaway. The kids enjoyed playing in the big gym area, jumping in the bouncy house and walking the red carpet complete with a Sesame Street backdrop.

Guests noshed on Fresh Brothers pizza, salad, chicken bites, and their new meatball sliders. Snacks from Brownie Brittle and Pasta Chips filled cookie monster and Elmo hand-drawn sand pails that the kids got to take home after the party.

Nannies from The Nanny League were on hand to do temporary Sesame Street character tattoos and make Elmo arts and crafts, along with their Nanny League bubbles.

With Elmo at his side, Sawyer smiled from ear to ear while blowing out his candles. His three-tier character cake from Mary’s Cake Shop was a showstopper. Guests nibbled the Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Big Bird cupcakes while enjoying milk from Elmo and Cookie Monster custom cups.

“I am a stylist and I live and breathe fashion,” Anya shares. “Of course my baby is going to have a costume change at his birthday! I have been planning his birthday outfit forever — I decided what I was wearing 30 seconds before the first guest arrived, but he had 2 changes and a back-up outfit [laughs]“

Sawyer started off the day in a preppy suspender shorts set from Mud-Pie with a “2” tie, and then changed into a custom personalized seersucker shortalls from Buds ‘n’ Branches.

But the day wasn’t all about cake and Cookie Monster. Sawyer teamed up with Baby2Baby charity to help underprivileged children. The birthday boy asked his guests to bring a toy or package of diapers to donate in exchange for a gift bag. At the end of the party, a overflowing bin of donations stood in the entryway of Kidville.

“I am honored that we could give to Baby2Baby and so touched by the generosity of all of our guests,” Anya shares. “I don’t think it is ever too early to start teaching kids the importance of gratitude and giving back.”

When it was time to leave Elmofest, guests were gifted with custom #sawyersworld gift bags filled with all of his favorite things for parents and kids. Each bag was labeled with the Mabel’s Labels “Write Away” labels, and included a certificate for a pair of Stride Rite shoes (Sawyer’s wardrobe staple).

Bags also featured Bella B bubble bath, Daddy’s Health and Skin Set, Aveeno baby daily moisture lotion, and Daddy and Co. Scrub-a dub-dub book and rubber duck set, as well as all of Sawyer’s bath time essentials. Kids also got a Tissuebox by Uber Mom and a Classic Kids Photography photo session.

For the parents there was Net Nanny software, and Create Your Own Money Saving Adventure book (which gave Anya a lot of great ideas for the party), a Hipknoties luggage tag, the latest issue of Gladys magazine, a Club MomMe keychain, and a complementary hair treatment from Hollywood hair color expert Renee Taglia.

“Elmofest was everything I had hoped it would be,” gushed Anya. “I will never forget the look on Sawyer’s face when he walked into his party. After I recover, I want to do it all over again.”
