The Ross Family has a lot to celebrate!
Just off the heels of Evan Ross and Ashlee Simpson’s wedding, mother of the groom, Diana Ross and four of her children gathered to celebrate the re-opening of her daughter Chudney Ross’ Santa Monica children’s bookstore, Books and Cookies.
“Books and Cookies is a bookstore, but it’s more,” Diana told Us Weekly at the event. “Chudney has created a nurturing environment and a loving environment where learning takes place.”
Tracee Ellis Ross, Evan, Ashlee, and Ross Naess were among those who snacked on treats from Beyond Meat, Happy Family, and Consensio Cellars at the party, which celebrated the store’s new location.

”It’s so important to have my family here. My family is number one,” Chudney explained.
After reading a few books in-store, Evan treated his new stepson, Bronx, 5, to a stack of new tomes including “Goodnight iPad.”

“We’ve always done Goodnight Moon,” Simpson explained. “And there is a new book we just got called Goodnight iPad which is quite funny. He reads every night! And we brought two bags of books of his to donate today.”

In addition to checking out Chudney’s hand-picked selection of books, guests had a lot more activities to choose from. After applying Aveeno Baby sunscreen, kids decorated dresses from Hipknoties, had their face painted by The Nanny League and — of course — snacked on cookies from Magnolia Bakery in the store’s outdoor space.
The party, hosted by Style Expert Anya Sarre, also gave the family a chance to reflect on the recent nuptials.
“The wedding was fantastic!” Tracee tells Us Weekly of August 31 nupitals at Diana’s Greenwich, Conn. estate. “It was probably one of the best parties I’ve ever been to. It was very beautiful, we had a moment of oh my god when it was raining crazytown, everything got pushed a little bit and then the rain stopped and there was a rainbow for the ceremony. It was amazing. We couldn’t have planned that better. I’ve never danced and giggled more in my life!”
